Why do I need my flight details in order to make a booking?

Your flight details inform the hotel of your arrival date and time. This information is needed to secure an island transfer. Island transfers (speed boats/sea planes) are scheduled throughout the course of the day. With this information, the hotel coordinates pick up and arrival times for all guests.

Why do I need an island transfer?

Transportation to your hotel from the main airport is necessary. As the Maldives is an island nation, seaplanes and speed boats serve as taxi's to your preferred destination. Without this service, getting to your hotel won't be possible. Remember, these island transfers are coordinated by your hotel. All costs associated with this transfer service will be added to the total cost of the booking and itemized for your review.

Will Agoda book my island transfer?

Once you have made your hotel booking, which will include your flight details, Agoda will forward this information to your hotel of choice. The hotel will then make the necessary island transfer reservations on your behalf.

What if I do not have my flight details?

Hotels will not confirm a booking without your flight details. At agoda.com, you cannot complete your booking request without providing flight details. We provide you with links to all airlines flying into the Maldives. You can contact your local travel agency to make a flight reservation OR use the airline links to make a flight reservation.

We suggest that you click on the "bookmark this page" button. Then contact your travel agency or proceed to your airline of choice by clicking on the appropriate link. Secure your flight reservation and then come back to the booking page to fill in your flight details to finalize your reservation. It's very easy! Remember, you don't need to purchase your ticket now – just provide us with the flight number.

What should I do if my flight details have changed?

Please call Agoda Customer Service @ +66 625 9100 as soon as this happens. We will contact the hotel on your behalf, informing them of your new arrival date and time. Any charge which may occur because of the change in schedule is determined by the "Booking Conditions" conveniently listed under "Room Type" of your selected hotel description page.

What if my travel companion and I arrive on 2 separate flights?

Please contact Agoda customer service at +66 625 9100 at least 48 hours before the check-in date. We will inform the hotel directly. All island transportation will be arranged by the time you arrive.

What is the per person charge for island transfers? Are children billed at the same rates?

All island transfer rates are displayed with the hotel information. This includes any discounted rates which may apply to children. The costs associated with island transfers will be added while making the hotel reservation at agoda.com. Please note all transfers fees are charged at cost. Transfer fees are determined by your hotel. Agoda does not add any extra costs to the transfer price.

What is the schedule for all island transfers?

Speed boat transfers operate 24 hours per day. These transfers will be arranged by the hotel based on your arrival/departure times. Hotels will strive to keep your waiting times to a minimum. Seaplanes operate from 6:00AM until 4:30PM 7 days per week. You must arrive into Male before 3:30PM in order to catch a same day seaplane transfer.

How long will I have to wait in order to make my island transfer?

Your wait time is typically no more than 1 hour from arrival.

Will someone meet me at the airport?

Most hotels will have a representative holding a hotel sign in the airport arrival hall. If this is not the case, please approach the hotel contact counter in the airport arrival hall.

What if my flight arrives into Male after 3:30PM?

If you are booked on a Seaplane transfer, you will be required to stay overnight in Male. We recommend that you book the Hulhule airport hotel as it is located just next to the airport and can be reached within a few minutes.

How far is the Hulhule airport hotel from the airport arrival hall?

The Hulhule Hotel is only a few minutes from the airport. There is a meeting point outside the arrival hall. A bus operates every few minutes and is free of charge.

Can I just walk in to the airport hotel for my overnight stays?

We highly recommend that you book this hotel through Agoda. Availability is often limited and/or booked well in advance.

Can I change my transfer from seaplane to speed boat (vice versa) or can I book a one-way speed boat transfer and a return transfer by seaplane?

This is not possible. Each hotel has a predefined transfer option which is displayed on screen once you click "Book"

What is the criterion for a speed boat transfer and seaplane transfer?

Speed boat transfers are for hotels located no more that 60 minutes away by boat. Seaplane transfers are for hotels where the boat ride is more than 60 minutes, usually for those hotels located in the outer atolls.

How far is the airport arrival hall from the island transfer departure points?

Approximately 50m walking distance from the airport arrival hall. The ferry pier for speed boat transfers is just outside the arrival hall.

If you have booked an overnight stay at the Hulhule airport hotel, there is a meeting point just outside the arrival hall. The hotel transfer is free of charge and operates every few minutes. It's only 5 minutes from the airport.

If you have booked an overnight stay in Male town, there is a ferry located at the pier just outside the arrival hall. The trip will take about 10 minutes and will cost you about $2.00 USD. Taxis are available once you arrive but most hotels are within walking distance from the arrival point.

How long does it take to get to my hotel from Male?

Island transfer time depends on the selected hotel. Speed boat transfers can be as short as 10 minutes or as long as 60 minutes. Seaplane transfers usually take from 30 minutes up to 1 hour. Please refer to the hotel page for more details.

What if I miss my transfer?

Most hotels have a contact counter in the arrival hall of the Male airport. If this is not the case, please call Agoda Customer Service by referring to the phone number listed on your hotel voucher.

Will I be billed for an unused hotel room if I miss my island transfer?

Each hotel will have a policy regarding this situation. It is between the customer and the hotel. Agoda does not have a say in this situation.

What is full board/half board?

This is a reference to your meal plan. "Full Board" refers to breakfast, lunch and dinner. ‘Half Board" refers to breakfast and dinner. The hotel will specify as to whether drinks are included. Most meals are in a buffet style. Please refer to the hotel information for more details.

What is Bed Tax?

It is a mandatory country tax. All hotels charge you USD$ 8.00 per person per night regardless of age. Please note that most hotels have the bed tax included in their room rates, so there will be no additional charge. Some hotels prefer to collect the bed tax separately. If you have booked one of these hotels, you will see the additional bed tax listed in your total booking costs. Bed Tax is for all nights stayed in the hotel, regardless of promotional details
