While it is a high-class luxury hotel that deserves more than to be labeled simply as "cost-effective," the fact that one can enjoy such elegance and space at a reasonable price is the hotel's biggest twist and charm. Transportation: The hotel offers a free shuttle bus that frequently runs to and from Sannomiya Station (Mint Kobe Bus Terminal) and Shinkobe Station, somewhat alleviating the disadvantage of being a distance from Sannomiya Station. Additionally, the taxis that are almost always waiting in front of the hotel provide another fun option. Unique view of Kobe Harbor: I stayed in a southwest view room, and since the hotel is positioned similarly to the top of the Port Tower, the beautiful night view of the Port Tower and Meriken Park is truly three-dimensional and stunning. A more tranquil atmosphere favored by locals: For those among Koreans who prefer areas with more locals than fellow Korean tourists, this place is ideal, and I was able to fully enjoy the calm and upscale atmosphere unique to traditional Japanese hotels. Accessibility to Meriken Park: Exiting the hotel’s main entrance and taking the road to the right leads directly to Meriken Park, making it a reasonable distance for a pleasant stroll. Optimal shopping infrastructure: Harborland (Aeon Style Umie) and Mosaic are within walking distance, and due to the clustering of various shopping malls, when tired from shopping, a taxi can take you for about 800 yen (as of early February 2026), making it very easy to move even when carrying many shopping bags. Polite service and hygiene: The staff is extremely friendly, and the service is very attentive. The hygiene of the room and breakfast service is excellent, providing peace of mind and satisfaction for my pregnant wife during our stay. Amenities: The in-room smart TV allows for YouTube viewing, making relaxation time enjoyable, and the Family Mart convenience store at the end of the lobby floor, along with various shops and a garden, make it great for spending time inside the hotel. Disadvantages Narrow shuttle bus: Although the free shuttle bus connecting to Sannomiya Station runs frequently, the interior of the vehicle can be somewhat cramped, which may lead to discomfort due to close proximity to others. Additionally, it may be inconvenient if traveling with a stroller or large luggage, or during peak times. Waiting time at Sannomiya Station: When taking the bus from Sannomiya Station to the hotel, you'll queue at terminal platform 8 of the Mint Kobe building. Since it's a popular hotel, especially around dinner time, the line can be longer than those for the other two hotels. When lining up, you should stand in the orange line below. Distance from the city center: Despite the shuttle service, the hotel is situated at a distance from Sannomiya Station, the center of Kobe, which means there will always be travel time since all activities will inevitably start from Sannomiya. It's important to note that the shuttle does not drop you right in front of the station but rather close by due to road conditions and structure (it's not a distance that you can't walk). Overall Assessment The physical distance from the center of Sannomiya can be fully offset by the shuttle and taxi services, as the hotel's views and service quality are overwhelming. Especially for travelers concerned about hygiene and seeking a quiet retreat, it seems there is no safer and happier option. It’s a place I definitely want to revisit when our child is born.
