"Users of this website should be informed that the hotel's name in Chinese is Jin Men Da Jiu Dian, and it's kind of dumb that that information is not very prominently displayed for users of this booking service. Pacific/Jin Men is on N side of People's Square, opposite an entrance to a Metro station serving three Metro lines. Easy to get anywhere from here. No need to rely on taxis (of which there is often a shortage). Around the corner is a food street, Huang He Lu, plenty of good cheap restaurants and street vendors. I assume the pricing of this hotel will always suffer from being next door to the big shiny Radisson; I would rather stay at Pacific Hotel anyhow. One drawback to the location: the part of People's Square immediately opposite is used sometimes by a group of old Communists who come out and sing revolutionary songs off-key in a kind of open-air karaoke. I was here both for business and (at end of stay) for a family vacation, and the room was suitable for both purposes. Service was attentive, English at the desk was high-quality, housekeeping was friendly and thorough. The porters could have been a bit more accommodating about storing bags on my last day, but the reception desk saw to my needs. The bar was a nice, albeit overpriced. (I didn't eat at the Pacific Hotel but this website requires a number. You can't argue with Javascript, thus I have submitted a meaningless 3.) While I was here I suffered from a terrible internet connection that cost me hours of my time. I didn't bother asking for help from the hotel staff, because I believe it was a provider problem."

"This hotel is a historical landmark of Shanghai. Once the tallest building in the city years ago. The interior is still well-preserved with its historical elegance blended with modern amenities. The single room is comfy for a single traveller. The people park metro station is just right opposite the road with the famous Nanjing west shopping street 5 minutes walk away. It's easy to go everywhere since People park metro is one of the interchange station with 3 different lines. Museums attractions are also 5-10 minutes walk away. A hotel with great location, convenience, history and class. Not to forget, its has a nice japanese restaurant and a certified pearl shop in the hotel itself. However, i'm extremely not happy with agoda and the hotel when i made changes to my booking and my first night payment not able to be refund due to their late communication."

"We are the fans of Kempinski Group. Actually, the One executive suites is not the typical design of Kempinski, however, the hotel is warn and modern enough itself. Therefore, it is still the best choice if you are seeking home warmth for staying in Shanghai, specially recommended for mini kitchen and comfortablly bedding. Very nice location, that you can find 24 convenience store, restaurants, fruit shop , bakery and so on outside the hotel. Great experience that we can make a simple cooking in mini kitchen when we missed breakfast buffet. Different food festival events for every month are attractive in restaurant inside hotel. "

"Did not know what to expect when I booked it, and was very pleased with what I found. Room 617, quiet, well appointed. Good wifi, nice bathroom, huge terrace, sadly not furnished, so could not make use of it, which was a shame. Bell staff was very helpful. Front staff had their moments. Breakfast was not particularly good not imaginative. Since the hotel is surrounded by shopping malls and small restaurants. Skip the breakfast at the hotel Ciao restaurant and find better more authentic place. The location cannot be beaten: Walk down Hankou street for 15/20 minutes and you will arrive on the Bund. Go 3 minutes the other direction and you are in the people's park. Hotel is just next to exit 14 on the Metro line 2, direct connection to Pudong airport. It is also bang in the middle of the red light district and opposite a police station, the two seem to tolerate each other quite harmoniously! Very amusing."

"the jw mariott shanghai hotel is supposed to be one of the best if not the best hotel in shanghai. it is true it is really luxurious and beautiful.. no free internet in the rooms (it is nowadays quite amazing not to have free wireless internet in hotel rooms of this standing, especially in asia). top floor bar is a private mariott club so we were unable to have a drink there. we were nicely offered a promotion package on our arrival which included the use of the club (where you can have free afternoon tea, and early evenings drinks), internet access, breakfast and room upgrade which seems really good if you intend to stay all day and night at the hotel. staff was most efficient and spoke great english. the jw's lounge bar on 40th floor is really good: great atmosphere, good music, lovely decoration and top cocktails and snacks. great location, close to people square, museums, opera etc.."
